Reading Blog #3

Okay, as far as i can see, "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" have a diverse effect on the media, from say,"The daily news channels". They each have their own approach on the public. There is a sense of dominance in their approach as it varies from the approach of other news channels. First of all, the daily news channels/stations have a more forward way about bearing the world news. Whereas "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" are more versitile. The form/approach in which is used by these two shows is simular. In saying so, they have this certain appeal to the public that weighs the consensus as less severe. They  basically "sugar coat" the fact that today's society is on a downhill spiral to knowhere, if we don't change our way of thinking. To me the values that are instilled by these two very different ways of communication to society are more different than they are alike. The regular newscasts provide us with a very simplistic definition of what's happening. As for the other, in retrospect to the news, I would say that the programs are informative yet lacking in appeal. Their cocky approach and zesty appeal takes away from the informative direction the news should have.

Hegemony Example 1

The fact that this picture is, first and foremost, in the shape of the Titanic which to me symbolizes: 1)That the ship, based on production, was to be infallible (or unsinkable). 2)Shows that the modern technology at the time of production was inferior contrary to popularity. 3)It instiils a sense freedom, hope, faith, and power. As for the dollar bill it constitutes: 1) Power, more power than that of the Titanic. 2) The dollar bill was and still is in circulation. Since day one of the manafacturing and distribution of money  it has proved it's worth as the currancy has influxuated.
